Gideon sends the keynote address for KingdomDog Ministries as his trainer and Master (Alana Curry) deliver messages found in Psalm 46:10, “Be still and know that I am God. I will be exalted in the nation. I will be exalted among the earth,” and Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.”

Gideon is a KingdomDog! He is an 18 month old yellow Labrador Retriever who captured the mind and heart of those attending a Senior Adult luncheon held by Gateway Baptist Church, today, in Spring, Texas. Gideon and his trainer/Master visually demonstrated Gideon’s first learned command, “SIT” and how it relates to Gods word, which teaches “us” to SIT, “Be still and know that I am God…” (Psalm 46:10). Comments from the audience included, “he never took his eyes off of you” and “he is so obedient.”

Gideon also demonstrated “TRUST” when his trainer/Master threw the “coveted” bumper (a tool trainers use to teach dogs to retrieve) in front of him, turned her back on him, and he didn’t budge, further illustrating Gods word found in Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.” These visual illustrations are huge and just as I am SO PROUD of Gideon, his focus on me, his love for me, his desire to serve me and please me, how much more proud is our Heavenly Father when we are obedient, listening, and waiting for His next command?

Thoughts for the day:

  1. For Gideon and for us, if we can’t sit we can’t learn!
  2. What does Gideon learn when he sits for his Master? By comparison, what do we learn when we sit and get still before The Lord?
  3. Could we learn how to keep our eyes on the Master, learn His voice, learn His characteristics, His attributes.
  4. Is time your teacher?
  5. Can God trust us?
  6. 20 minutes a day, everyday, with the trainer/Master and Gideon won’t be the same dog and you won’t be the same person.

Gideon, at 14 months old, received his first of 4 AKC Titles. His name is recorded in the AKC record book as having achieved his Junior Hunt Test Title. Gideon could never have been a Hunt Test Champion without learning to sit and learning to trust his Master.
